Once upon a tombstone
I read an epitaph
whose sentiments ridiculous
were prone to make me laugh;
the information set thereon
gave me to ridicule
the marker and the makings of
some great exquisite fool;
now lest you think me callous and
a soulless Frankenstein,
you ought to know the coup de grâce:
the epitaph was mine.

this made me smile … very clever, and loved the cadence
You and I do love our dark humor, no? So glad to have you pop by, my dearie. Hope you’re well and blessed these days. xoxoxo!
Because it’s fantastic!!
How very sweet of you indeed, Jamy! I do get a kick out of writing darkly humorous stuff, and the more so when anyone else enjoys it too. Best if I can avoid them being my *real* last words anytime soon, all the same!!
Loved the rhythm and the smiles it brought, Kathryn! Wonderful!
xoxo
Thanks, my sweet!
Hahahah! This reminds me of a late-night challenge my sister and I got into a couple of months ago. “What’s the worst thing you’ve ever written?” she asks me, at 1am on a school night. So she found for me some poetry she wrote about a junior high boyfriend, and I find for her something involving vampires, and we both laughed and laughed on either side of the province for well into the morning. So wonderful!
Oh, boy, would I have to hunt long and hard to find my Worst among the embarrassment of riches!!! But I’ll bet if I asked my sisters they would be able to contribute a vast number of suggestions to put on my list! (Sisters are quite helpful that way.)
Tee! Hee! …
